Easy access to wood has facilitated the development of Podlaskie's construction sector. Unibep SA of Bielsk Podlaski is currently one of the largest construction companies in the country and a leading Polish exporter of construction services. Unibep acts as a general contractor on projects in Poland and abroad (on the Belarusian and Ukrainian markets), is active in the road construction industry, and, through its subsidiary – Budrex, constructs and renovates bridges throughout the country.
Modular and prefabricated houses
Podlaskie's core speciality is modern, modular multi-family buildings and prefabricated houses. Manufactured in Bielsk Podlaski by Unihouse and Danwood, they are spectacularly successful on the Scandinavian and German markets.
Danwood S.A. is one of the most important European suppliers of prefabricated houses wooden houses delivered in turn-key projects. Throughout its 25 years in the business, it has handed over more than 13,000 homes to customers. Most of the houses are built in Germany, where Danwood is the leader in the number of homes built as a turn-key service. Apart from the German market, the houses are very popular in Austria, Switzerland, the UK and Poland.
Unihouse S.A. is one of the largest European companies in the modular construction industry, with a production capacity of approximately 2000 modules per year. The company's exceptional position on the Scandinavian markets is confirmed by the fact that in Norway Unihouse SA is the biggest general contractor from Poland, while on the Swedish market it is the only foreign company which participates in the extensive communal flats project, “Allmännyttans Kombohus.”

Polish Construction Cluster
The Polish Construction Cluster brings together over 300 Polish companies operating in the construction sector. It includes general contractors, architects, producers of materials and chemicals used in construction, door and window joinery, interior designers, furniture, and blinds manufacturers. The activity of the Cluster is supported by universities and business environment institutions, helping the companies to develop their innovative potential and achieve a competitive advantage.

The Bialystok University of Technology ensures highly qualified personnel for the construction industry, it is the largest technical university in north-eastern Poland, training future specialists in construction and engineering.

Vocational schools in Podlaskie Voivodeship provide education to over 25,000 pupils, who are trained in such fields as crafts and the operation of advanced industrial equipment.
